| İlgilizce Özet | Aim: The coronavirus disease was declared a pandemic by the World HealthOrganization in March 2020, and healthcare workers are the most risky occupationalgroup in terms of encountering the agent. It is aimed to examine whether the Covid-19pandemic causes future anxiety and anxiety on the interns of the Faculty of Medicine ofKafkas University in the 2020-2021 education period, when the pandemic is mostintense, and to suggest solutions for the problems they may experience in theirprofessional lives as a result of the high future anxiety and anxiety level.Material and Method: The universe of the descriptive and observational studyconsisted of 6th grade students (44 people) from the Faculty of Medicine of KafkasUniversity in the period of 2020-2021. The entire universe is included in the research.40 of the students within the scope of the research were reached. A sociodemographicdata form, a form related to the details of the internship program, Beck AnxietyInventory and Beck Hopelessness Inventory were applied in the questionnaire form.Data analysis was done with SPSS 24.0. The t-test and ANOVA test were used toanalyze the variation of the scale score according to demographic characteristics. Whilethe t test was used in the analysis of demographic variables with 2 groups, the ANOVAtest was used in the analysis of variables with k (k>2) groups. Results: Forty interns participated in our study. When the distribution of individualsaccording to their demographic characteristics is examined; %45 of them are 23-24years old, %65 are men, %95 are single, %92.5 do not have a chronic disease, %65 arefamily, spouse, friend, etc. living together, %77.5 of them did not have Covid-19infection, %40 of them their biggest concern during the Covid-19 pandemic was thefear of contracting Covid-19, %45 did not work for the diagnosis and treatment ofCovid-19, It was concluded that %55 had contact with Covid-19 patients on averageless than 24 hours per week, and %60 had contact in the emergency room with patientswith a diagnosis of or suspected Covid-19. Before Covid-19, the participation of themajority of individuals in education programs decreased from an average of 24-40 hoursper week to 16-24 hours after Covid-19. It was concluded that the majority ofindividuals were in the hospital for an average of 56-72 hours per week before Covid-19and more than 72 hours after Covid-19. The most affected situation in the impact of theCovid-19 pandemic on their experiences was that they were negatively affected by thetraining programs with %60.It was seen that there was mild hopelessness with a Beck hopelessness inventoryscore of 7.00 and a severe level of anxiety with a Beck anxiety inventory score of 33.75.Beck anxiety inventory differs statistically in terms of age (p<0.05). According tothe average scores, it is observed that those aged 25-26 have higher scores than thoseaged 27-28.Conclusions: Interns, along with their concerns about many negative situationscaused by the pandemic, also feel anxiety about the practice of medicine and the future. The fact that they say that the effect of the epidemic on their feelings is small is also anopportunity for the review and evaluation of medical education. Although it is tried toovercome the deficiencies regarding the rotations that the interns cannot complete withdistance education applications in the pandemic conditions, this is not enough and needsto be developed.During the Covid-19 pandemic, it will be beneficial to increase the measures toreduce the spread of the virus and to facilitate individuals' access to medical andpsychological support. |
