| Immigration was one of the most tragic events for Georgia in the second half of the 19th century. Nowadays many ethnic groups living in Turkey. Georgians are among them. Georgian origin residing today in many regions of Turkey, especially they live in the coastal area of the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea. The reason of the deportation of Georgian people in Turkey and other lands many innocent human life is a tragedy of fate that deserted by its name is the Muhajir. As we have stated, this phenomenon constitutes one of the black pages of Georgian history.After the Ottoman-Russian War (1877-1878), Adjara region was reintroduced into the borders of Georgia, but when the Batumi was captured by the Russians, the Muslim Georgians were incorporated into the territory of the Ottoman Empire. The only people who were not in an ideological thought at the time were the fight for life, confused and scared. These people have been exploited rather than emotion. Strangely, these displaced people have become unable to see not only the future of their own family and children, but even their own reasons for living. On the one hand, they were given the opportunity to live in better conditions in the Ottoman Empire, while on the other hand, they were intimidated by the Russians that they would be forced to Christianize and assimilate if they stayed in Georgia. This process takes place between the two great states: the Russian Empire on one side and the Ottoman Empire on the other. Therefore, nobody heard or wanted to hear the rebellions of the Georgian intellectuals and the supplications of the refugees. |
