Özet
This study was carried out to determine the optimum age of Zavot cattle for fattening performance and fattening economy. Three groups were formed with animals of approximately 6, 18 and 30 months of age and defined as groups I, II and III, respectively. Six animals were included in each age group, and a total of 18 bulls were selected. Increase in the age caused a decrease in the feed efficiency (P<0.01). Moreover, daily weight gain in group III was higher (P<0.01). Group II was defined as the most profitable group. Furthermore, 18 months of age was found to be the optimum age for Zavot cattle to start the fattening process.
