| AimsThis study was aimed to determine the seropositivity rate of Human Adenovirus-5 (HAdV-5) in people with obesity, compare this rate with people without obesity and correlate seropositivity, obesity, and lipid profiles.MethodsA total of 164 participants (morbid-obese; n = 84 and non-obese; n = 80) were included. The ELISA method was used for assessing the presence of IgG type antibody that react against HAdV-5 and also to determine the metabolic and lipid profile of those patients including glucose, hemoglobin-A1c, triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density-lipoprotein, low-density-lipoprotein, leptin, and visfatin.ResultsHAdV-5 positivity was detected in 16.7% (14/84) people with obesity, whereas no positivity was detected in 80 control participants.
