| Hyalomma rufipes is a two-host exophilic tick with a 1-year life cycle. Its host preferences are similar to those of Hyalomma marginatum. Larvae and nymphs feed on a large variety of birds and leporids; adults infest mostly domestic cattle. Sheep, goats, horses, camels, buffaloes, giraffes and rhinoceroses are listed among the other hosts of adults; antelopes and ostriches are less preferred (Hoogstraal in African Ixodoidea. I.
