| From the end of the 20th century onwards, literature in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as in all republics within the USSR, entered a period of purification from Soviet ideology. In addition to the themes of homeland, nation and freedom, the economic, psychological, social and spiritual difficulties brought about by the transition period also began to be among the frequently discussed topics in literary works.All the negative characteristics and conditions of the transition period caused people to become isolated and despairing. It is possible to see this influence both in the lives of writers and poets and in examples of written literature. The inability of the intellectuals to hold on to a new era brought by wild capitalism, their alienation, withdrawal, oppression and marginalization have led to the emergence of new intellectual characters. In this context, the stories written by Neriman Abdulrahmanly (b. 1958) in Azerbaijani literature and Ayagul Mantay (1982-2021) in Kazakh literature reflect the material, moral, spiritual and psychological difficulties that the authors themselves experienced. Neriman Abdulrahmanly is one of the leading figures of contemporary Azerbaijani literature; he was awarded the" Friendship" medal of Kazakhstan for her services in the development of Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan literary relations. Ayagul Mantay is one of the important names representing the younger generation in modern Kazakh storytelling. Mantay, who frequently talks about loneliness and death in her stories, committed suicide because she could not bear the cyberbullying she was exposed to in real life.
