| The 19th century is a period when Azerbaijani literature was very rich in terms of literary examples. In addition, the 19th century is one of the most contradictory periods in terms of both form and subject, as it is a period in which old-traditional and new-modern literary methods coincide. It is known that especially in the first half of the 19th century, poets wrote mostly about love. On the other hand, the poems written on the historical subject emerged mostly in the type of muhammes. Muhammes, which offers the opportunity to express various historical and social problems in detail, is a literary genre that poets frequently applied to in this period. In this respect, Mirza Bakish Nadim's (1785-1880) muhammes titled" A Few Historical Events in the Caucasus from 1218 Hijri to 1243 Years" draws attention as an important work describing the historical events that took place in Azerbaijan in the 19th century. Consisting of forty-four (44) quinques, this muhammes is a very important work in terms of both the subject and the period in which it was written. Manzume deals with the entry of Tsarist Russia into the Caucasus and the occupation of the Azerbaijani khanates one by one during the 25-year period between 1803-1828. In the poem, the occupations of Tsarist Russia and the bloody results of this war are revealed with feelings of great pain and hatred. Since there are not many works written about the independence struggle of Azerbaijan in the 19th century, this poem by Mirza Bakish Nadim deserves more recognition.
