Özet
This study systematically investigates the effect of single-layer PVD coatings (TiCN, AlTiN, CrN), and duplex combinations (plasma nitriding + PVD) on the structural, mechanical, impact wear, and corrosion behavior of AISI D2 tool steel. Plasma nitriding was performed at 500°C for 2 h under a 50% H₂–50% N₂ atmosphere, followed by cathodic arc PVD coating deposition. The cyclic impact wear tests were carried out in air using a 10 mm WC ball under 190 N and 380 N loads (2.5 Hz and 5 Hz frequencies) for 100,000–300,000 cycles, while corrosion performance was evaluated separately by potentiodynamic polarization in 3.5% NaCl solution. XRD and SEM analyses confirmed the formation of Fe4N, Cr2N, and ceramic phases with strong coating continuity in duplex-treated samples. The duplex-treated specimens exhibited markedly enhanced hardness (up to 2196 ± 172 HV for D2 + Nit. + TiCN …
