| Today’s information societies have left the sense of education which gets information as ready forms, does not think and produce, and makes individuals inactive. Societies have tried to find ways to train individuals they need as individuals who are critical, interrogatory, could consider the circumstances from alternative ways and could establish a comparative and cause effect relation. As for supporting mathematical thinking skills that show importance at this point, it would be possible only with qualified education programs to provide at early ages (Kandır, Can Yaşar, Yazıcı, Türkoğlu and Baydar, 2016: 9).Mathematics is a multi directional concept. Its origins include historical and cultural processes which have reached the present day from Ancient Egypt ad Babel, have become increasingly complicated and intangible. As for formation of concepts and principles, it includes the subjective thinking activities such like creative images, intuition. Mathematics that provides efficient means for arts, science industry, agriculture and other means of support which complete the life at every age and all civilizations is also a discipline that has a high intellectual value with its specific objectives, methods and results. Mathematics is an expression and inference means in all application areas including the science with its instrumental aspect. As for its purposeful aspect, from the perspective of a mathematician “mathematics” is the struggle for thinking and seeking the truth which involves its value in itself (Yıldırım, 1988: 10). |
