Milk yield and udder characteristics in Tuj and Morkaraman ewes and the relationships between them.

| Özet |
| This study was conducted to investigate the udder traits and milk production in Tuj and Morkaraman ewes. The relationship between the udder measurements and milk production was also examined. 57 Tuj and 27 Morkaraman ewes aged 3 years were used. All the ewes were obtained from the Farm of Kafkas University. The lactation length, lactation milk yield, daily milk yield, udder lobe circumference, nipple length, udder height and the relationship between these measurements and milk yield were determined. In terms of the udder circumference (Tuj: 40.28 cm, Morkaraman: 43.11 cm), there was a significant difference between the 2 breeds (P<0.05). Lactation length and lactation milk yield of Tuj and Morkaraman ewes were 131.7-137.0 day and 51.5-88.31, respectively (P<0.01). The results showed that Morkaraman ewes had larger udder measurements and greater milk yield than Tuj ewes. |
