Özet
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of zinc on reduced glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) levels of 20 pregnant Tuj ewes, 3 years old. The animals were divided into 2 equal groups: control (n=10) group and experimental (n=10) group which received 30 mg/kg of zinc daily for 150 days. The blood samples from both groups were monthly collected before (once) and during pregnancy (for 5 months). The whole blood GSH, plasm MDA and NO levels were spectrophotometrically determined. Ewes in both groups had higher MDA and lower GSH levels during pregnancy when compared with MDA and GSH levels before pregnancy (P<0.001). During the second month of pregnancy, ewes receiving zinc had lower MDA and higher GSH concentrations for 4 consecutive months than the control (P<0.01) until the end of experiment (5 months). Nitric oxide levels of both groups …
