Özet
Leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) has a zinc atom in its active site. This enzyme has an important role during pregnancy. This study was conducted to investigate the alterations in the activity of LAP during pregnancy in Tuj sheep. The effect of zinc supplementation on the activity of LAP was also determined. 20 Tuj ewes aged 3 years were divided into 2 groups: control (n=10); and group receiving 30 mg/kg zinc daily for 150 days (n=10). Blood samples were collected monthly from both groups and centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 15 min. The LAP activity in the serum samples was measured during pregnancy (5 months) and after lambing. The LAP activity was insignificantly different between the 2 groups. The LAP activity of both groups increased in the last three months of pregnancy. However, it decreased following lambing.
