Lesions related to the umbilical region have an important place among the diseases that occur in the neonatal period and cause significant economic losses in calves. Therefore, our aim was to determine procalcitonin, neopterin and total sialic acid (TSA) levels in calves with omphalitis. A total of 30 calves including 20 with omphalitis and 10 healthy, were used in the study. For analysis, blood was taken from V. jugularis and serum was separated. Serum samples were used to determine procalcitonin, neopterin and TSA levels. In the analyzes performed, mean serum levels of procalcitonin 227.78±3.01 ng/mL, neopterin 48.09±2.21 nmol/L and TSA 77.56±2.36 mg/dL in calves with omphalitis, while it was determined as procalcitonin 37.42±2.37 ng/mL, neopterin 13.88±2.17 nmol/L and TSA 61.63±1.87 mg/dL in the control group.
